Turf Replacement Awards Program
As part of our efforts to encourage customers to use water wisely, Oak Park Water Service and the Triunfo Sanitation District are sponsoring a Turf Replacement Awards Program with $100 cash prizes for selected customers who replace areas of lawn with drought-tolerant, climate-appropriate landscape materials. Entries will be judged by a "Green Ribbon Committee" of local landscape designers, master gardeners, and irrigation system professionals.
To be eligible for an award, turf replacement projects must be started on or after October 1, 2009, and must be completed by February 26, 2010. "Before and after" photos will be required to assist the judges in their evaluations, which will take place in March. Awards will be announced and presented in April -- public tours of the winning landscapes are planned.
The judges will use the following criteria in determining award recipients:

Proven reduction in water usage as shown by customer water bills |

Educational and showcase value that encourages similar action by others |

Aesthetics and design quality as depicted in "before and after" photos |
